Stacy Koviak | Artist Biography:

With a stripped-down acoustic sound and poetic lyrics, or the melodic dynamics of a full band....this singer-songwriter will capture you.

Stacy picked up the guitar at eleven and began composing songs shortly after. A true introvert at heart, this artist's intimate songwriting leaves you feeling connected to every song she sings. Her musical style varies as much as the list of comparisons. Mazzy Star, Jewel, Lisa Loeb, Alanis Morisette, Stevie Nicks, and Ani Difranco to Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Poe and a "combination of Amy Lee and Gwen Stefani (by one fan)." Not aiming to sound like anyone but herself the best fan description she's heard is "you remind me of every female singer I love but don't sound exactly like any one of them."

Her music is fresh and powerful - driven by potent, introspective lyrics and an equally dynamic guitar playing style. Stacy Koviak is a multifaceted artist who emerges from a diverse musical background combining folk, pop, jazz, and alternative to create a pleasant blend of intuitive rock. The self-profound tales of love, loss, and emotional struggle that are key components to her songs relate to a wide audience of all ages and musical tastes.

Stacy released her EP "Time to Fly" in 2002 and it was quickly apparent that there was something special here. The cd immediately had many tracks picked up by Richmond's radio stations local shows and the album was well received by everyone - keeping old fans happy and gaining her many new ones!

Stacy spent most of 2003-2004 in the studio working on her much anticipated full length LP, entitled "treading bleu." With this album she took a more artistic approach to the project as a whole and the outcome was a dynamic cd which gracefully displayed her diverse songwriting styles and sounds. Treading Bleu features acoustic tracks, full band tracks, and a few songs in between. Fueled with slightly darker undertones than on her prior EP - this album continued her journey into composing with a full sound....which led to the band. With the expansion of her sound, and completion of the album it was apparent that a larger live sound was in order. She teamed up with a talented group of musicians to form a unique sound that allows a whole new interpretation to her already expressive solo stage show. Joined by David Patterson on guitar, Brian Collins on drums, and Jeff McManus on bass guitar, stacy performed with the band at larger venues and special events, while continuing to play solo acoustic shows where requested.

Stacy recently relocated back to the midwest and can now be found playing venues throughout Michigan and the surrounding states, but spent the past 6 years on the East coast based out of Richmond, VA. She continually makes a positive impression in local music scenes and has built up a diverse fan base throughout her career sharing the stage with various local and national bands, headlining as a solo acoustic act in clubs and performing in a variety of area Festivals. She has been a participating artist in the Richmond Music Festival and Art Expo, CAM Fest, The Carytown WM Festival, the Fete de la Musique Festival, and was a featured performer in The Richmond Songwriter's Series. Stacy has received praise from the Richmond Music Journal, and her music also maintains steady air play on both XL102's "Studio B," and Y101's "Community Service" radio programs, and can also be caught these days on WIDR FM.

Stacy's shared the stage with national acts like Mat Kearney, Mute Math, Griffin House, Sin City Revival and countless local bands and is currently working on material for her new album. She's also started a new project with Dave Patterson (previously from the band in Virginia) called "the homesick."

Most recently, Stacy has dedicated her talents to playing Bass guitar for Kalamazoo based band "Dooley Noted" (www.myspace.com/dooleynoted) She just recorded several tracks on Dooley's new album and will be joining the band for upcoming shows!
